After co-inventing ChatGPT, I kept asking myself: why have superhuman chat models not led to AGI? I’ve spent the last 2 years in stealth building a new way to train models (RLCD), and a new type of frontier AI model that we are releasing today: Jev • 20-200x faster • 40-400x

ChatGPT gift cards are live in the US! Gift cards give people a new way to share ChatGPT with friends and family. They also bring ChatGPT to the places people already shop for gifts, ahead of the holiday season. Recipients redeem their card at http://chatgpt.com/redeem to add funds to their wallet, then use the balance for eligible subscriptions, renewals, and usage-credit purchases on ChatGPT web. View quoted postRT Michelle Pokrass following up after astra launch week and the navier-stokes announcement i wanted to share a little bit about how we think about and build for the over 1 billion people who use chatgpt every week, most of whom use it for free. we’re on a mission to distribute the benefits of agi, and i think this is the most impactful way to do that: giving people as much access as we can safely and feasibly distribute. we want to scale the utility that everyone gets from ai. over the past 6 months, we've been working to bring the greatest possible capabilities to the broadest possible set of users, including both free and paying users. of course there are some practical limitations and we can’t ship the largest models to everyone, but since march (gpt-5.3 instant), we’ve improved the default chatgpt experience meaningfully: - responses with a major factual error are down 65%, and they are down 72% in high stakes categories like finance - gpt-5.6 sol at instant and gpt-5.6 luna at medium are smarter than o3 at high reasoning effort, our frontier reasoning model from 17 months ago, while being considerably faster, 30%+ faster time to last token (evaluated via GPQA diamond) - chatgpt is far more usable and enjoyable while bringing extreme sycophancy down 80% and overall sycophancy down 83% - on our high-stakes medical eval, chatgpt produced 83% fewer answers flagged for hallucinations, resulting in hundreds of millions of better health conversations per month - we're seeing people find more ways to use chatgpt. for a recently joined cohort, we saw the number of use cases pursued at least three times weekly go up 20-30% not only have we improved the default chatgpt experience dramatically, we’ve also expanded access significantly for all. free users now: - have access to unlimited text chats - can use higher reasoning effort - now have access to automations, letting them schedule tasks to happen later - have access to better memory through dreaming. this allows ch...

View quoted postRT Tibo Re I am pleased to see that Ant’s new Claude Code has a version of background computer use on par with the version from Codex from last May this year. Nice work! Shipping great features first turns out to be a great way to encourage other labs to ship too. We will continue to do this until other labs pay more attention to shipping. This is good for everyone and there is a lot of room left to go! We solved computer use in practice for GPT models about four months ago. But computer use is a significantly awesome thing no matter what model you use, and it is important that the industry similarly spends more effort to train their models to be great at computer use, among other elements of model capabilities. As models become more capable and central to businesses and economies, the value of computer use only increases. We should be taking it seriously, and doing the right thing for our customers and the world.

View quoted postRT Sam Altman I spent much of the weekend talking with the team who did this work. Seb--and everyone else--acted with integrity and generosity throughout. Initially we believed the other team had also solved the problem. We wanted to collaborate and do a joint release. When we learned that they had Euler but not Navier-Stokes, we offered to let them go first, to suggest that they should be the ones to get the prize, and optionally for Tristan to be the lead author on a rewrite of the OpenAI proof. We felt it was challenging to offer the same to Levent (an Anthropic employee), who was not willing to talk or coordinate with us anyway. We were open to other solutions. We would have greatly preferred coordination. We did not rush to publish even though the other team wasn't communicating with us. The team threatened us with unfounded accusations of plagarism. Now that we can see their work, the approaches appear to be different. It is also worth noting that our latest model can solve many, many other math problems. It is true that we tried this because there were rumors on the internet last week that Anthropic's models had solved a millennium problem and we were curious if ours could do it too.
I would like to clarify a few things: 1) The screenshot is my reaching out to Levent to coordinate our releases. I hope it’s clear from the message that we came in with the best possible intentions. 2) I never ever asked for Levent to be removed from authorship of his own work

RT OpenAI We’re sharing a solution to the Navier-Stokes Millennium Prize Problem, one of the deepest problems at the frontier of mathematics. The proof was produced by a group of agents, using an OpenAI next-generation model significantly more capable than GPT-6 Astra. The problem concerns whether the description of smooth three-dimensional fluid motion modeled by the Navier-Stokes equations can break down. It has remained unresolved for roughly 90 years.

View quoted postRT Tanishq Mathew Abraham, Ph.D. One of my favorite features of Codex/ChatGPT is not even documented in the main docs, I discovered it on Reddit. So basically we have a GPU slurm cluster that we SSH into, and I wanted to be able to run Codex on it from my phone. ChatGPT Desktop supports SSH connections but how about accessing it directly from mobile app? Turns out there is a separate "Remote Control" feature not officially documented anywhere. Simply run "codex remote-control start" on the server you want to Codex into from your mobile. Then run "codex remote-control pair" to getting pairing codes. Then in the app, go to the Remote section, "Add connection", select "Pair manually", and put in the pairing code. It's that simple! I use this feature pretty much every day to manage autoresearch experiments and other training runs on our GPU cluster.

RT Anish Acharya Think of what's happening here - Astra is using a very complicated piece of software, writing music, dialing in effects and using samples in a dope and tasteful manner. What gets me isn’t just that it can use the software. It’s the musical choices. This model is something astounding and new. OAI dialed in the interface (codex app), the capabilities (lightning fast computer use), and the model to deliver an AGI class model with eyes, ears and heart. Plus the compute supply to make it broadly available. We are living in a beautiful moment and nothing will ever be the same.
