The case for *total* Linux victory (desktop, mobile, server, iot, robots, embedded…): 1) Most agent-programmable People will want fully personalized computing experiences. macOS makes it hard to even ship a tiny app to your menubar. 2) Open source training data Blender beats all its competitors because it's optimal in the most important dimension: agents can train on it and use it efficiently. OSS wins. 3) Design being democratized macOS has historically had a 'monopoly' on beautiful OS design. The global design community is now huge, they're motivated, they have tokens. 4) Computing moving to cloud sandboxes More and more of our personal and professional computing experiences will come from agents that orchestrate work in the cloud, using sandboxes. Those sandboxes will be Linux. Bonus: seamless continuum between local & remote 5) Security Every piece of software is now at major risk, Linux included. But Linux has the collective investment of everyone on the planet throwing tokens at it.
"Where do you want to go today?" In 1994 Microsoft launched an ad campaign under this motto. I think it represented the potential of computing very well, but it was quite aspirational. The internet & www was in its infancy, software was hard to obtain (CDs and long downloads), programming your own computer was tricky. In fact, it was so tricky I switched to Linux in order to teach myself how to code and get true 'root' on my PC 😁 Now, I look at what AI is enabling, the limits on what you can ship vanishing, and the new worlds being created, and I realize that question is perfect for 2026.
Anyone that works in AI is working the hardest they've ever worked in their lives. On the surface it's somewhat ironic (AI should give us back time!), but the reality is that it's the most fun, fascinating and empowering epoch in human history. The intelligence revolution.

Two days ago JFrog dropped CVE-2026-82329, a critical authentication bypass in Artifactory. It’s a CVSS 9.8, a disastrous vulnerability score. It’s like a 9.8 earthquake on the seismic scale. It affects default configs, requires no auth, no user interaction. It’s an RCE bomb because Artifactory hosts binaries, so you can basically poison everything, but an admin escalation can cause damage even beyond that. When the OpenAI / Hugging Face news came out of agents discovering zero-days, I was wondering if it was marketing-speak or reality, because I hadn’t seen a CVE filing. Now it’s here: https://www.cve.org/CVERecord?id=CVE-2026-82329. I don’t see any official confirmation that it’s indeed the case, but one can speculate this is what the agents discovered and exploited. I’d previously written that it was obvious agents could help in finding serious vulnerabilities *alongside humans*, but exploiting them autonomously was a bridge not yet crossed. It seems like we’re now there. Our guidance for this new world: assume everything hackable will get hacked. And it will get hacked autonomously. Turns out in 1979 3BSD's 𝚝𝚜𝚎𝚝 had a 𝚜𝚕𝚎𝚎𝚙(𝟷) to let mechanical printer-and-ink terminals 'settle down' 😂 I asked 𝚏𝚡 to write me a faster alternative in Zig. It takes 1ms instead of 1s. It was really cool to dive deeper into 𝚗𝚌𝚞𝚛𝚜𝚎𝚜, 𝚝𝚜𝚎𝚝, 𝚝𝚎𝚛𝚖𝚒𝚗𝚏𝚘, and the myriad ways in which your terminal can get… cursed. It's legit fascinating how far back our technology stack goes, and how enduring good system design is, even with the occasional 'spider webs' you can find. I used 𝚏𝚡 to build Mini, a personal web browser. Many times I need to screen share, stream, or just test something without the 'bloat' and state of my browser. So I go Mini. This was a cool test for http://fx.sh and open models. It was the first time I experienced how cheap, but also how *good* these things can be. 'Personal software' is a hot topic. "I spent $25,000USD to cancel my $10 XYZ subscription" is a real thing 😂 (especially in Enterprises these days). But I think open and local models will change this dynamic very profoundly. Software will really become spontaneous. ps: shoutout to Orion browser who inspired me with 'focus mode'. I wanted my browser to be even more minimal, hackable, and run on Chromium.

We ran evals on GLM 5.3 cybersecurity capabilities. It's the new open frontier. Given its lower costs, I expect this to be a boon for defensive security work. e.g., it means you can run https://deepsec.sh at least 3× more often!

I think people don’t realize how much of the success of React is actually @shadcn. I once referred to React as the actual “LEGO brick for adults.” But in reality it was more the description of the geometry of the bricks. The spec. Shadcn is what people actually wanted from React. Reusable high quality components that also tunable. It’s a pseudo-library. There’s code but it’s actually meant to be digested into your context window and remixed.
I’m interested in finding and funding the next Disney. True to its original values, focused on the American spirit. Merit, family, overcoming of adversity, optimism, the pursuit of happiness. AI makes everyone able to create. What will define our next generation is *what* we create with it. The next icons. The next unique brand that goes further than how it’s drawn or rendered. Mickey Mouse survived several technological revolutions because of what it represented. I think most big entertainment companies have forgotten that.
