Interesting, I killed my OpenClaw VPS servers months ago But today I got a billing alert on its separate Claude account (claudeforopenclaw@), it didn't have auto reload on but I guess at some point it got hacked and the Claude key inside OpenClaw got exposed and then they waited for months before using it on Fable 5.1 I checked all my terminals and VPS sessions and none of them use API so it's interesting Anyway I nuked the Claude account, good I kept it on its own separate one

RT Afonso Matos 🇵🇹 For the past 3 weeks, I've been travelling around Poland. I started in Krakow, then went to Wroclaw, and now I'm in Warsaw. I'm completely amazed by how clean, organised and polished all these cities feel. You don't see crazy people on the streets, people behaving strangely like you do in Spain or Italy, for example, or trash on the ground. I cannot emphasise enough how clean everything looks. It's like being in Singapore or Japan. Travelling between cities is also a very pleasant experience. The trains are very comfortable (and again, clean), and they have restaurants on board that actually serve amazing, affordable Polish food! In Warsaw particularly, everybody is very well dressed, and walking around the city centre feels like such an elevated experience. It's crazy that Poland's GDP per capita has more than tripled in dollar terms over the past 20 years. I think people back home still see Poland as a very poor country, but that view is completely outdated now. In Krakow, I also met Italian girls who said they felt so safe walking around. I mentioned I was going to visit Bologna soon, and they joked that I'd only see Pakistani people. Poland has had a huge influx of Ukrainian immigration, and you notice it in Ubers, cafés, bars, etc. But because the culture and religion are similar, it doesn't feel like a big cultural contrast. Well, coming from Portugal, I find people here slightly blunter and ruder, but again, all of this is relative (Brazilians think we're rude, for example), so I suppose you just get used to it. The public transport works flawlessly, and the trains and buses are impeccably clean. Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems Polish people have a stronger sense of civic responsibility when it comes to cleanliness than southern Europeans? Judging by the cities I've visited so far, this does feel like what you'd imagine when somebody says “Europe”. It's super refreshing to be here. I think locals probably take it for granted by now.

✨ Okay with lots of help from @javilopen and his Spanish scraping friends I've managed to vibe code my own @Scrapingbee alternative and replace my $249/mo Scrapingbee plan with my own $1/mo scraper running on my VPS! First I tried OpenSERP, an open source project that seems freshly maintained but it didn't work on my VPS IP or laptop IP and got blocked fast Then I tried to use residential IP proxies from IPRoyal but they were already quite tainted IPs meaning Google already knew they were scrapers and just blocked about 60% of them already, not so great, also didn't work! Then I discovered OpenSERP uses a vanilla headless Chrome, Google instantly detects that and blocks that, so literally the entire repo is useless cause it won't even work? I don't get why they don't say that in the docs? OpenSERP is even worse than just basic CURL, as my AI said: "plain curl got 7% blocked but OpenSERP's headless browser got 100% blocked" So then I just built my own with Playwright and a real Google Chrome on my VPS, headful and persistent context, and slow pacing like every 30 seconds or so And I got some better residential IP recommendations (which I can't tell you because thenhey t stop working!) Now I'm at about 90% success rate, which is similar or better than Scrapingbee And it costs me ~$1/mo (measured by GBs, obviously for text scraping I barely use a lot) instead of the $249/mo I paid Scrapingbee! Beef and pork are both high quality, Okinawa is famous for Ishigaki and Motobu wagyu and Agu pork. The pork in particular was the best I’ve had. Like the rest of Japan, meals are balanced. Modest carbs, fermented vegetables, soup. Even my hotel breakfast was the healthiest I’ve had at a hotel in a long time. That plus the fairly laid back lifestyle compared to mainland Japan, with beautiful beaches, no heavy traffic, warm weather all year round. Could see myself living here.

And weirdly that can make the underlying thing much bigger. Cause you become your own VC, making asymmetric bets with your accumulated capital: you can kill the paywall, maximise network growth and figure monetisation out later. The big advantage of succeeding with cash-generative businesses (like Peter did) is eventually having enough money to make those venture-style bets yourself, while still keeping 100% of the company (no dilution, no external investors, all the upside still yours if it works). IMO that's one of the most underrated things money buys ambitious founders. Not retirement, but the ability to build things that don't need to make money immediately.
